MR. KILN UNDER A CLAY ROOF SHACK.

Back in Jan 28th.2008, I had written before about my workshop where I did most of my plaster models and clay casting. The title was Clay Pottery Making Under The Starfruit Tree. Consider this one as a rewrite.

Well!! After two times struck by flood,now the Starfruit Tree was already dead and my bamboo shack with Sago Leaf for roofing was long gone to make way for a small road.My bamboo shack was erected in year 2000 but was demolished in 2004.I am really quite fond of the shack and a lot of happy memory when we was there.My friend Din and I had to transfered all our equipment to a new location underneath a friend's house just nearby where the old bamboo shack used to be. With mother earth as a floor and less wall,we seems to manage here and there since then.

I had remake the kiln a little bigger compare to old round one,we also make a simple roof just for the kiln. A shabby one of course!! My homemade claymixer still working and strong and intact.But the economy now is so uncertain that peoples now spend less to buy whatever product.We even change our design to a more traditional 'pumpkin' style with natural earth colour (without finishing). I also spend less and less time here.

The Clay which I bought in year 2000 was still there near the house full with grasses but still can be use. My burner also destroyed many time,but we manage re welding and re use it again and again.My old models,also mostly ruined by the flood and rain so not much left to show.Now we only have the new models which was traditional in shape.Recently somebody in Kuala Lumpur already put it in their craft showroom in Kuala Lumpur .Hopefully peoples will like it and maybe buy one or two in the near future.
